Or, if you work from home, the interrupted calls? An internet provider (Highline) wants to fix these issues for our communities! South Park Telephone (SPT) dba Highline has applied for and received three CO Broadband grants encompassing areas in Park County and Jefferson County (along the Hwy 285 corridor) to install Fiber-to-the-Premise internet to approx. 2500 dwellings. In each instance, these
regions are served with antiquated copper wire infrastructure and spotty wireless service. The absence of a robust broadband service prompted community leaders and residents to take action and find a solution to improve the current circumstances. These Communities collaborated on methods to deploy a broadband network and invited Highline to speak to community members on the subject, which resulted in the Communities creating a broadband committee to work with Highline on a plan to support a broadband grant application. In each case, the Community and SPT demonstrated the need for state funds to complete the project by providing the data to support the lack of broadband in the project area and cost associated with deploying a network to provide broadband level service, all supported by a financial commitment from the HOA’s and its members towards the matching funds of the grant. These type of public-private endeavors (partnerships) represent a unique request for grant funds, a collaboration consisting of a Homeowners Association’s (HOA’s), the community (residents) and a sustainable-reputable internet provider working together to identify a solution that benefits all parties while maximizing (leveraging) existing infrastructure to expand broadband deeper into rural Jefferson County, thus limiting the impact on the available dollars in the broadband fund. For over 20 years, Highline has delivered robust communication services within the Park County region and will soon expand into the Staunton State Park area (Jefferson County), the company is well versed on the tasks (planning, design, deployment, installation) and cost associated in deploying such network and has demonstrated the ability to install, operate and maintain networks to support its service offerings. The Company understands the challenges of operating in this region and encompasses the resources and expertise necessary for a successful outcome. Below are just a few examples of fiber projects completed by Highline, projects were completed on time and within budget. In 2003, Highline deployed approx. 9 miles of fiber from Hartsel, CO to Eagles Nest Tower Site to connect a DSL cabinet and tower location to a fiber optic network, thus providing the necessary transport facilities to offer higher bandwidth capacity to end users and eliminate insufficient wireless technology. In 2010, Highline deployed approx. 22 miles of fiber from Hartsel, CO to Fairplay, CO connecting customers along the route including the Park County government offices, communication center and emergency services. In 2017, Highline deployed approx. 4 miles of fiber within the Town of Fairplay to provide a FTTP service offering and assisted Park County with connecting approx. 20 anchor institutions to a fiber network. In 2020, Highline deployed approx. 21 miles of fiber within the Silverheels Ranch Owners Association (SROA) as part of a Colorado Broadband grant award to provide a FTTP technology to 134 locations. In 2020, Highline deployed approx. 31 miles of fiber between Hwy 24 (Fairplay, CO) and Hwy 285 (Como, CO), thus providing the necessary transport facilities to offer higher bandwidth capacity to end users and eliminate insufficient wireless technology. In 2021, Highline deployed approx. 7 miles of fiber within the Badger Creek subdivision - Hartsel, CO to provide FTTP technology to 70 locations. In 2021, Highline begin construction within the Burland Homeowners Association Bailey, CO and will deploy 96 miles of fiber as part of a Colorado Broadband grant award to provide FTTP technology to 1280 locations. In 2022, Highline will kick off construction to deploy 72 miles of fiber within the Staunton State Park and surrounding areas in Jefferson County as part of a Colorado Broadband grant award to provide FTTP technology to 704 locations. Highline would like to meet with our community in person - check back frequently, or set up Facebook notifications for the page to stay abreast of new information, and a time and place for the Meeting.
