The Founder’s Story: Catherine Wall
In 1985, Catherine Wall, armed with grit, a dream, and a thick Irish accent, founded Accurate Staffing Consultants with her husband James. Fresh from Dublin and new to the U.S., Catherine had already spent years learning the staffing world from the ground up, taking temp assignments to better understand every layer of the industry. When it came time to launch their business, they bet nearly every penny they had—and took no salary—just enough to keep the lights on.
But launching a staffing company as a recent immigrant wasn’t easy. With no U.S. credit history, Catherine was turned down by multiple banks for funding. Still, she didn’t flinch. She pounded the pavement, eventually convincing a funding group to take a chance, if she could provide 12 months of projections. So she did.
What followed was the kind of hustle today’s startup culture only dreams of. Catherine hit the streets with a beeper, a stack of prospect lists, and pockets full of quarters for pay phones. She knocked on doors, pitched buyers like Toys R Us and Winn Dixie, and never shied away from asking for the business. By the end of 1986, her hard work paid off: Accurate had generated nearly $1 million in sales.
One of the company’s biggest milestones came when they won a major contract with Kellogg’s Snacks. Catherine boarded a flight to Battle Creek without an appointment, gave a powerhouse pitch, and secured the deal. In 2009, Accurate successfully relocated 200+ employees and five manufacturing lines to Georgia—proving the team could scale without ever sacrificing service or quality.
Today, Accurate Staffing spans the Carolinas and operates five branches, with a seasoned internal team that boasts an average tenure of 15 years.
That same fire Catherine brought in 1985 still fuels every client conversation, every placement, and every call answered.
