Here's a question most organizations don't ask until something goes wrong:

Who owns what in our grant process?

Who gathers program data?
Who owns the budget?
Who researches opportunities?
Who manages funder relationships?
Who handles reporting?
Who makes the final go/no-go decision?

Grant professionals...

You know that tiny moment of panic when someone says:

"I found a grant!"

😂

Because the next sentence could be:

We laugh because we've been there. But reactive grant chasing is exhausting, and it isn't a sustainable strategy.

Quick test.

Does your grant strategy sound something like this?

🔹 Find grants.
🔹 Check deadlines.
🔹 Pick one.
🔹 Write fast.
🔹 Submit.
🔹 Repeat.

That's a workflow.

It isn't necessarily a strategy.

A grant strategy should help your organization decide where you're going, which opportunities fit, what you're prepared to pursue, and how grants support the bigger picture.

Because being busy with grants and being strategic about grants are two very different things.
