Did you know NWDLS has an Employee of the Quarter program that’s 100% peer-voted? No management input. No favoritism. Just teammates recognizing teammates. 💙

As we closed out Q4 of 2025, it was time to celebrate another well-deserved honoree!

Each Employee of the Quarter receives:
🏆 A commemorative plaque
🚗 A dedicated parking spot
📘 A booklet filled with their peer nominations
💰 And a cash prize

Employee appreciation isn’t a checkbox around here—it’s a core value. When your people feel seen, supported, and celebrated, great things happen. And I’ll always believe in that. 👏💧🔬

🦃 Happy Thanksgiving from North Water District Laboratory Services, Inc.! 🍁

Today, we pause with grateful hearts to celebrate the people who make our work meaningful — our incredible employees and the clients we proudly serve across Texas.

To our NWDLS Team: Thank you for showing up with dedication, integrity, and heart every single day. Whether you’re in the lab, out in the field, on the road collecting samples, or keeping operations moving behind the scenes — you are the reason we continue to grow, serve, and succeed. We are truly thankful for each and every one of you.

To our clients and community partners: Thank you for trusting NWDLS to support your water, wastewater, and dredging needs. Your partnership allows us to do what we love — protecting public health, supporting utilities, and serving communities near and far.

May your day be filled with good food, warm company, and gratitude for all the blessings this year has brought. From our NWDLS family to yours — Happy Thanksgiving! 🧡

I am truly humbled and honored to have received the Association Leadership Award at the opening session of the 107th Annual Texas Water Utilities Association School.

This recognition is such a reminder that when you love what you do, it never feels like work—it feels like purpose. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve this industry, for the friendships I’ve built through TWUA, and for the chance to give back to the community that has given me so much.

Thank you to my peers, colleagues, and mentors for your support, encouragement, and inspiration along the way. Here’s to continuing to grow, serve, and strengthen the water and wastewater industry together!

👩🏼‍🔬Fun Fact Friday – Brought to you by Monica Martin

🔎 This Week’s Fact: Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) testing helps scientists assess the level of organic pollution in water. It shows how much oxygen microorganisms need to break down organic matter.

🧪 Why It Matters to Us: Higher BOD levels mean more pollution and less oxygen available for aquatic life. By measuring BOD, industries and environmental agencies can monitor water quality, control waste discharge, and protect ecosystems. Additionally, this test is routinely required for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)/ Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) discharge permits.

💡 Bonus Nerd Note: Mussels and clams are nature’s pollution detectors! Species like Mercenaria mercenaria are used in bioaccumulation testing – they absorb pollutants from dredge material to help assess environmental risks. P.S. Did you know NWDLS performs this exact testing??

The NWDLS Team knocked it out of the park for our annual Interfaith of the Woodlands Food Drive. We delivered a whopping 1,000 pounds this morning for families in need, and this would not have been possible without the contributions from every single employee!

Also, special thanks to our NWDLS organizer, Helen Conrad 🥫
