City Awning and Tarpaulin Company We are a industrial textile solutions company that designs and creates custom products for Marine, Oi We were founded in 1920.

When we begain, we were located in a sail loft on the historical strand in Galveston. What we did at that time was make sails and hatch covers for ships, as well as house awnings. A few years down the road, we expanded by opening a location on Harrisburg Blvd in Houston, Tx. We operated out of both locations for several years. During WWII we were major part of the war effort and we were declared a

n essential industry. We made covers for merchant ships that carried war supplies to Europe. About mid WWII the sail loft burned down. It was then that we consolidated to one location. Shortly after the war ended we started moving away from the shipping and house awning industry to making covers for oilfield equipment. We have mostly gravitated in that field since. Around 2007 we moved from our location in Harrisburg to our current location in Conroe, Tx.

If you are planning to stay home during the storm, here is a list of things to do!

The probability of a hurricane near us this week looks strong, and I have seen many questions about what to do to prepare. Bill Petty and I went to the store yesterday afternoon, and already there were some empty shelves, so if you haven't already, go today! The further north you are, the fewer issues you will have, but even as north as we are (Northwest tip of Montgomery County), we get lots of water and power outages. Ike even took down some trees and cause damage to our home. So get prepared!!
