This weekend The Smith Team was honored at the Century 21 Arkansas Conference for our sales production last year, and it gave me a moment to stop and reflect on everything that went into making that happen.
Working in real estate is not for the faint of heart. There’s an insurmountable amount of stress that agents take on throughout a transaction, and when you’re also in college pursuing two degrees, it sometimes feels like that stress multiplies. Over the past year I’ve spent most of my time guiding people through the largest investment of their lives seven days a week, all while balancing being a homeowner, a full-time college student, a dog dad, and a business owner.
I’m not going to sugarcoat it; it’s hard. I’m probably 60% caffeine at this point, have enough stress stored up to supplement energy to the power grid, and somehow I’m still trying to make it all look easy.
But this year has taught me something important: the value of the still moments. The moments where I can just sit, breathe, and not think about what’s next on the to-do list. It’s reminded me that before I’m a bomb-ass realtor, before I’m an all-A college student paying his own way with $0 college debt, I’m just a human being — and I deserve to treat myself like one.
Before I end my TED Talk, I just want to say thank you. Thank you to my clients, my family, and my friends who constantly push me to be the best version of myself.
