We’ve been getting a lot of questions about political parties and how voting works in South Carolina, so let’s be clear: South Carolina does not require party registration. But when it comes to primaries, you can only vote in one party’s primary,and that choice matters.

The Democratic ballot in November represents a strong, unified slate of candidates committed to protecting working families, expanding opportunities, and moving our communities forward. Yes, technically,you can pick candidates individually but splitting your vote weakens the collective power needed to actually deliver results. That’s why we’re saying it plainly: the Democratic ticket deserves your full, unified support. Vote straight Democratic.
South Carolina does not allow fusion voting. That means you cannot combine party tickets into one cohesive vote (yes, you can split your ticket but be strategic). If you’re voting a straight ballot, you have one lane so choose the one that aligns with progress, stability, and real solutions.
