Thanks to National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) for a great day of training!

More than 50 recreation professionals in Georgia participated in a special Sports Staff Training today hosted by the Georgia Recreation and Park Association at the University of Georgia’s Griffin Campus.

Half of those attending also completed training that was conducted by Lisa Licata, our Senior Director of Youth Sports Administrators. This training covers promoting sportsmanship; interacting with volunteers, participants, and leagues; safety issues; and more. These professionals will then go on to earn their Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) credential, joining more than 8,000 others who have completed this industry recognized training.

📣 Equipment Donation Opportunity!

The Atlanta Falcons Youth Fund, in partnership with Good Sports, is offering sports and recreation equipment donations to eligible GRPA member organizations serving youth in high-need communities across Georgia.

Eligible agencies must serve youth ages 3–18 in high-need communities, charge participation fees of $299 or less, and provide consistent sports or physical activity programming.

Approved organizations may receive up to 8 equipment donations over 2 years, beginning with kits for soccer, basketball, flag football, or general recreation.

We are excited to continue the Youth Sports Officials Training Program! This approx. 2-hour course is for local community members to get general officiating knowledge to help officiate within your local community and GRPA District/State events. Baseball & Softball has been on going, Soccer, Flag/Tackle Football IS NOW LIVE, volleyball and basketball will come out in September.

Training program specifics: Be sure the register through the link on the GRPA Officials Page

-Cost- $20 per participant to start; Only $5 to add additional sport after
-Medical & liability Insurance upon completion
-All officials are background checked
-All officials completing the training program will be sent a code to receive equipment "allowance" (amount varies from sport to sport) from our online officials store with equipment being sent directly to their residence
-Upon completion GRPA will send names to District Athletic Representatives to share with agencies sorted by zip code and sport specific training they completed

This opportunity is possible through the generous partnership with the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Atlanta Braves Foundation, and the NFL Foundation. It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of George Page. A valued GRPA member, George started his recreation career in North Carolina before moving to Dalton becoming the Recreation Director for Whitfield County then becoming the Director at Valdosta-Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority. George was awarded the state GRPA Distinguished Professional Award, earned numerous additional honors from various organizations and served on numerous GRPA state Committees. Please keep the Page family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
