I went outside with the intentions of cutting a few Lisianthus to put on my kitchen table, and came back with an entire armload. Why? Because I clearly have no self-control when it comes to flowers.

Remember that time I planted 10,000 tulips the LITERAL day before having a baby? Or my bright idea to plant 1,600 dahlias?Or that one time last year I had about six rows of zinnias? I mean, I could keep going.

You know, it could be worse. I could have a gambling problem or something like that (although Lyndsay over at Lyndsay Biehl • Flower Farmer • Floriculture Educator and The Dirt on Flowers Podcast podcast calls flower farming sweaty gambling — so maybe I should take that back, lol).

Anyways, I don’t think lacking self-control with flowers is necessarily a bad thing especially when it comes to those fluffy little rose-like blooms.

I don’t know if you realized it yet or not, but it IS dahlia season. Our fields are loaded and the farmers market bouquets were stuffed.

If you missed us at the farmers market yesterday, come on out to the U-pick for a 22oz cup (or a bucket — we won’t judge) of dahlias and our other flower favorites. Open 9am-7pm.

Celosia never gets the spotlight. It’s wildly colorful, slightly ridiculous, and giving absolute troll hair vibes. I really thought today’s harvest deserved a moment.

Can we also appreciate a slight break in rain? I started harvesting in my rain gear and ended with the sun shining.

It rained. And rained. And then it decided to rain some more. But just look at those blooms.

The flowers are harvested and arranged, the u-pick is open, and I’ll be at the Athens Farmers Market and the Meigs County Farmers Market with literal BUCKETS of blooms.

Come see what survived the monsoon.

Spent the morning with my little dude making sure the dahlias are well supported for another round of storms today. Those things grow faster than I can keep up with AND I have several varieties that are nearly as tall as me!
