Fresh Pressed Coffee Company was founded in 2018 by Nicholas Haffter Von Heide, however, his business idea had been brewing since 1991—the day he had his first espresso. Prior to FPCC, Nicholas has been developing his relationship with the family that owns Tacubaya Estates in El Salvador, where he has been sourcing his coffee for over ten years.
In 2000, Nicholas traveled to Sulawesi, Indonesia, for two months. It was there he learned their culture, traditions, language, and their coffee! The Dutch-style, farm fresh, roasted coffee he experienced resonated deeply with the young entrepreneur.
Enlisting in the Army during the Spring of 2001, Nicholas was supposed to begin basic training on September 10 later that year. Due to a job assignment discrepancy, his start date was moved to early Spring as our Nation still mourned the tragedy of September 11, 2001.
Nicholas graduated the United States Army Element School of Music in 2002 to become a member of the 1st Cavalry Division Band in Fort Hood, Texas. During a deployment to Iraq, from 2004 to 2005, he became one of very few in the military music field to be awarded the Combat Action Badge while serving.
