Over the last 4 months, I’ve been helping a very special family downsize into a new chapter of life.
But we didn’t just pack boxes.
We went room to room.
Drawer to drawer.
Cabinet to cabinet.
We donated.
We sold.
We let go.
And the first day, I told them, “This is only round one.”
Because when you’re downsizing, you can’t always pack everything and bring it with you. The new space may not have the room, the storage, or the same layout. So the process becomes less about “moving stuff” and more about deciding what truly supports the next chapter.
There’s a stigma that professional organizers come in and make people throw things away.
That’s not me.
I’ll guide you.
I’ll ask questions.
I’ll help you see what’s worth keeping.
But I will never force a decision.
This home held years of memories. Kids. Grandkids. Holidays. Family dinners. A whole chapter of life.
So no, this wasn’t “just a move.”
It was grief.
Stress.
Relief.
Laughter.
Tears.
Hope.
And little by little, session by session, they were ready to let go of more.
That’s the part people don’t always see.
Organizing isn’t always about the stuff.
Sometimes it’s about helping someone feel supported while they make peace with the next chapter.
And the best part of my job?
The hugs. Always the hugs. 💜
