The Cordele Fire Department held a Pinning Ceremony this morning for three newly promoted firefighters. Training Chief Justin Cook, Lieutenant Brett Walls, and Sergeant Kenneth Beavers were promoted last week into their new positions. Their families had the opportunity today to "pin" their new badges on them. Sgt. Beavers was unable to attend but his family will have the opportunity to pin him at a later date. This is a long-standing Fire Department tradition and serves to further build the relationship that firefighters and their family's share. Many departments call it "brotherhood", we just say that firefighters and their families take care of firefighters and their families. The ceremony was well attended by Commissioners, City Manager, Department Heads, Fire Chaplain, members of the fire and police departments, and family members.
Congratulations to Chief Cook, Lt. Walls, and Sgt. Beavers...Thank you for all you do!

CFD would like to thank our local Home Depot for graciously donating carbon monoxide alarms. It’s local business like them along with many others that help us help you. If you would like one of these alarms just come by Station 1 Monday through Friday from 8am - 4pm.

Our most recent new hire completed his PAT (physical agility test) today. He also performed a ladder climb and trained on confined space. We focus on familiarization of gear, equipment and basic firefighter skills every shift until they attend GPSTC to earn their certification.

A big thank you to Cordele Police Department for providing a cake to us here at CFD in honor of Firefighter Appreciation Day. It’s acts like these that remind us how strong our community truly is.

The partnership between our police officers and firefighters is essential—working side by side and always putting the safety of our community first. We’re grateful for the teamwork, dedication, and mutual respect that makes a difference every single day.

At approximately 11:01 a.m., Crisp County 911 received a call regarding a drowning at a residence on Aberdeen Cir.

First responders from multiple agencies immediately responded to the scene involving two three-year-old children.

​Upon arrival, first responders administered life-saving measures, and both children were transported to Crisp Regional Hospital, where they tragically did not survive.

​As is standard procedure for this type of incident, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been requested and is assisting our agency with the ongoing investigation.

​We extend our appreciation to the Crisp County Sheriff's Office, Cordele Fire Department, Crisp County Fire Department, Crisp County EMS, Crisp Regional Hospital, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Crisp County Coroner's Office, and CAAA Security for their assistance.

​Out of respect for the family and the integrity of the investigation, specific details are not being released.

​We ask that the community keep the family and all those affected in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
