The final day of the Firefighter Experience Camp is officially in the books!

Camp wrapped up with hands-on car extrication, a well-earned trip to the pool, and a visit from the LifeNet crew, who gave our campers a firsthand look at the critical role they play in emergency medical transport. The day concluded with our campers demonstrating the skills they developed throughout the week for their families and friends.

This camp is a tremendous team effort and simply wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated volunteers who give their time to invest in the next generation of firefighters. Just as we rely on our mutual aid partners on emergency scenes, we rely on them to help make this camp a success.

Day 2 is complete! 🔥

Today, campers tackled a variety of fire and rescue skills, including fire investigation, rappelling, and ladder truck operations as well as a visit from the Steuben county Sheriff K-9 units. Another day of learning, teamwork, and building confidence is finished!

We are rolling into our final day, and we’re looking forward to finishing camp strong.

Reminder: Families are invited to join us for the campers’ final skill demonstrations and graduation. Dinner will be served immediately following the demonstrations. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Day 1 is in the books! 🚒

Our first-year campers spent the day building their CPR and first aid skills, while our returning campers reviewed PPE donning, engine company operations, and vehicle fire scenarios.

The afternoon took everyone to the river, where campers got a firsthand look at boat operations and how a search can quickly expand with the use of ATVs and coordinated rescue efforts.

As always our first day finished up with a few games of waterball!

Day 2 starts now, and we’re just getting warmed up! Stay tuned!

Open enrollment for the 2026 Firefighter Experience Camp is now underway! Students outside of the Corning-Painted Post School District are now being added to the roster.

Already signed up? No action is needed—we’ll contact you only if we reach capacity.

Registration is NOW OPEN for Firefighter Experience Camp 2026!

Without further ado, we’re excited to officially kick off another year of Firefighter Experience Camp, and we can’t wait to welcome both new faces and returning campers back for an unforgettable experience.

This year, camp will be running July 8th to July 10th 8am to 5pm for anyone 14 to 18 years of age interested in learning more about the fire service.

From fighting fires and learning CPR, to vehicle extrication, search and rescue, and hands-on firefighting skills, campers will get a firsthand look into the fire service and the teamwork that drives it.

Whether you’re returning for another year or joining us for the first time, we’re looking forward to another action-packed 3 days full of learning, challenges, and memories that will last long after camp ends.

Registration will accept all Corning-Painted Post school district residents initially, with remaining spots filled with out of district registrations after June 15th. Notification will be sent upon enrollment.

We would like to congratulate our own bunk in Allan for achieving his dream and becoming a career firefighter. Allan has been with us for 2 years and has gained a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge. He has become a reliable senior bunk in, who we will miss having around. Another bittersweet but successful story to another bunk in. Good luck Allan!
