Traffic Control Learning Path

Many of the groups we support have crews working utility projects in the streets across the country. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), transportation incidents accounted for 76 percent of roadway work zone fatalities in 2012. In 67 percent of these incidents, a pedestrian worker was stuck by a vehicle. Working in the street is inherently dangerous, thus we are very thankful for the Traffic Control Technicians that work everyday to keep our crews and pedestrians safe.

But to do so effectively, they must be trained. For that reason, we have added a Traffic Control Learning Path to our online Learning Management System (LMS). Here's our course list:

Changes proposed to Cal/OSHA Heat Illness regs: The proposal would specify how close water and shade must be to workers, lower the temperature threshold for shade and high-heat procedures, tighten requirements for cool-down rest periods and specify actions supervisors must take if workers exhibit symptoms of heat illness.
