FORT WORTH SECURITY GUARD CHARGED WITH MURDER AFTER FATAL MALL SHOOTING

A 31-year-old security guard, identified as Tyron Henton, has been arrested and charged with murder following a deadly shooting at La Gran Plaza shopping mall in Fort Worth, Texas.

According to police, the incident occurred on October 14 when Henton allegedly witnessed a man smashing a jewelry kiosk with a blunt object inside the shopping center.

Authorities say Henton opened fire, striking the man. The wounded individual reportedly ran into the parking lot before collapsing near Seminary Drive. He later died shortly after officers arrived at the scene, just before 9 p.m.

Henton was taken into custody on Friday in connection with the shooting.

Several questions remain unanswered:

- Was the security guard employed directly by the mall or contracted through a private security company?
- What circumstances led to the use of deadly force?
- Was there an immediate threat to the guard or anyone else at the scene?

Authorities have not released additional details about the shooting.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Security officers must understand the laws governing the use of force, including when deadly force may be legally justified. Responding to a suspected crime requires sound judgment, proper training, and an understanding of applicable law.

An arrest and criminal charge are allegations, not a conviction. The case will ultimately depend on the evidence and the legal process.
