SPRING IS HERE! Please be aware of current recycling guidelines. PLASTICS - ONLY plastics that contain the chasing arrow symbol with the numbers 1, 2, or 5 inside are recyclable. With lawn clean ups and beautification happening now, we are seeing large amounts of mulch bags and other types of plastic bags. These are NOT RECYCLABLE. Also, everyone is planting flowers soon. Please check all disposable pots and containers before placing in your bin, many of these are not recyclable. If you are unsure of what is recyclable, please call us directly at 607-753-5191. We are more than happy to guide you.

This event is open to Cortland County Residents ONLY and material from commercial entities cannot be accepted. We can only accept items shown on the attached list. 2026 is even better! This year we are planning TWO HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENTS to help combat the long lines. The first event will be on April 11, 2026 at the Recycling Center on Pendleton St. from 8am - 12 NOON. No appointments necessary. This event is open ONLY TO CORTLAND COUNTY RESIDENTS and material from commercial entities cannot be accepted. Second event date has not been finalized but we are anticipating October like we did last year. STAY TUNED for more info!

The next 2 weeks are some of the busiest, most contaminated days of the year in recycling. The Christmas Aftermath can be confusing. PLEASE, be aware of what you are bringing to our facility/putting in your bin. Excessive contamination can lead to much higher fees and fines for our facility which could ultimately lead to higher taxes. Scroll through our feed for guidance or call with questions. 607-753-5191.
