Over the past 9 years, I’ve experienced starting and growing several cold starts (mine and others’ as a consultant), hired as a consultant to grow existing practices and learned about colleagues’ struggles. The common finding across all practices was that there was no one dedicated to the business side, a lot of the owner’s time got sucked up by patient care and administrative tasks. Additionally a lot of doctors realized they became doctors for patient care, not to be a bookkeeper, HR manager, marketing/branding specialist, etc.
And sadly, the difference in revenue is a bit like this graph (disclaimer: this was drawn in on my Preview on my MacBook so in no means is it accurate, but you get the point).
So owners look for help, and there are a lot of non-doctor help but they realize they’re not as knowledgeable or invested in furthering the optometry/ophthalmology profession.
That’s why FLOE Vision was created, to help owners become a strong competitor to large corporations while also to sustain the profession.
