In many cases, what we teach at Smoke School seems like an outdated technique. With technology quickly ever-evolving in this digital age, we tend to rely heavily on electronics to perform simple everyday tasks. On top of that, clean air is part of our everyday normal. The “man behind the curtain” sitting in the vehicle behind the plume controls. With 45 years in a career of smoke schools, there is no person on the planet with more hours logged behind a smoke generator and he ain’t done yet!

Visible Emissions Evaluation, as most know, is an outdoor activity. Not every day or every place is ideal for the technique, but with a busy schedule for Smoke Schools sometimes we have to get creative. Despite the rain and gusty gloom, the wind out of the north set us up to read smoke from the event space inside Krannert Park. Dry, climate controlled, and several large windows made for not such a bad day in Indianapolis after all!
