A lot of soybeans were harvested last week with varying results. Soybeans on the Missouri River bottoms have been ranging from the low 40's to mid 50's on non-irrigated acres. Soybeans in the hills have been very good ranging from mid 50's to mid 70's depending on location and rainfall. Most farmers are focusing on soybeans as moisture levels continue to drop, with many soybeans in the 7-8% moisture range. I expect most of my soybean acres will be knocked out by the end of the week. I only have a few corn yields in and so far they have been very good, averaging 15-25 bushels/acre above historic average. More results to follow as they come in.

Harvest is getting underway in SW Iowa with early corn numbers and early planted soybeans. I moisture tested full season corn yesterday and most fields were between 19-20%. So far corn yields have been above average with field averages between 200-240 bu/acre. I don't have any soybean averages yet, but expect yields between 55-65 bu/acre. Harvest should be in full swing by next week and I will post more yield information as it comes in.
