SUMMARY

Sets up and operates extruders, fabrication, and auxiliary equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Determines necessary equipment for each product; sets up extruder and runs parts to established specifications and efficiency standards, making adjustments to operating conditions as necessary.
• Fills hopper with specified material as needed
• Conducts product quality checks as necessary, completes paperwork in accordance with established procedures, packs products as necessary.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Education Required
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

Experience Preferred
• 1 to 3 years plastic processing experience operating extruders and fabrication equipment

Skills / Abilities Required
• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precise instruments, such as calipers and optical comparators.
• Ability to operate various hand tools, machines, and warehouse equipment.
• Highly organized and able to effectively manage time.
• Ability to operate forklift safely to move raw materials and finished goods.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED:

• Ability to solely lift and carry 50 pounds Ability to push and pull 1,500 pounds.
• Ability to stand (50%), walk (40%), and sit (10%) of the time.
• Ability to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, and climb ladders.
• Sight and hearing corrected to normal levels.

Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Summary:

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic performs mechanical/electrical maintenance and repairs on plant facilities and equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance work according to established schedules.
Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical equipment problems as required.
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
Maintain facility service systems such as heat, chiller, vacuum, etc.
Receive, unpack, install new equipment and prepare outgoing equipment.
Maintains proficiency and skill through in-house and outside training on mechanical/electrical equipment processes.
Ensures compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines, including EPA and OSHA requirements.
Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Education and Experience:
· Experience in manufacturing maintenance field, preferred.
Physical Requirements:

· Ability to solely lift and carry 50 pounds.

Astro Plastics in Covington, GA has a machine operator position available. The job requires manufacturing experience with extrusion experience preferred. It is a 5 day a week, 8 hour, non-rotating shift position starting at $15.00 per hour with shift differential. Our last day of shipping/receiving for 2016 is 12/23/2016.
