Growth is coming. Let’s make sure Georgia gets it right.

Data centers are bringing investment, jobs, revenue, and new economic opportunities to our communities. However, growth also raises significant questions about energy demand, infrastructure, water & land use, grid capacity, and how these projects truly affect the communities where they are built.

Those conversations shouldn’t happen after the decisions have already been made.

They should happen before the first shovel hits the ground.

At Pine Lake Public Affairs, we believe sound public policy starts with listening to businesses, community leaders, policymakers, & most importantly, the citizens who call Georgia home.

We help our clients navigate the evolving policy landscape around data centers, energy, and infrastructure, and we work to ensure growth is smart, responsible, and aligned with the long-term interests of Georgia’s communities and their citizens.

You need:

• Policy expertise that understands the issues
• A voice in the conversation before decisions are made
• Meaningful engagement with policymakers and communities
• Strategies that balance economic opportunity with community priorities

Because Georgia’s future shouldn’t be shaped by whoever speaks the loudest at the end. It should be shaped by people who show up early, understand the issues, and are willing to be part of the conversation.

Timber Was Gold in the South - Until the Market Collapsed.

This week's article in The Wall Street Journal takes an in-depth look at the challenges facing Georgia’s forest economy.

Thank you to the many GFA members and partners who shared their experiences and expertise for this story, as well as reporter Ryan Dezember and the WSJ for taking the time to tell it.

We believe forestry remains a powerful solution for strengthening rural economies and creating value across Georgia. Building on the foundation of our traditional forest products industries, the path forward will require new ideas, expanding markets and a shared commitment to developing the next generation of forestry solutions.

We’re proud to help bring these conversations to the table.

OpenAI's proposed $20 billion data center complex - expected to cover hundreds of acres 30 minutes outside of Savannah - is drawing scrutiny from the state's utility regulators and expanding debates about how to keep residential customers safe from such facilities' costs.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported earlier this week that the facility will need 3,200 MW of power - or roughly the same output of three of the nuclear reactors at Plant Vogtle near Augusta. Commissioner Alicia Johnson (D-Savannah) said that "any customer who is requiring this amount of energy should expect an equal amount of rigor and scrutiny.”

Another terrific Op-Ed from my friend Tyler Adams, Georgia Director of Conservatives for Clean Energy!

“Georgia is also uniquely positioned to lead on this. The state has already attracted billions in clean energy manufacturing investment, from the Hyundai Metaplant in Bryan County to battery and solar supply chain facilities across the Coastal Plain and middle Georgia. These are not blue-state vanity projects. They are economic development wins that Georgia Republicans can and should own. The solar panels going on Georgia rooftops and into Georgia fields are increasingly built with Georgia-made components by Georgia workers on land leased from Georgia farmers.

That is energy independence you can see from the road.”

Energy affordability gives Georgia Republicans a compelling 2026 campaign message.

As we continue to celebrate our Nation’s 250th Anniversary, the principles that shaped our nation: representation, advocacy, & the power of informed voices, remain as relevant as ever. 🇺🇸

Here in Georgia, the policy decisions being shaped today will define the business landscape well into the future.

For industry leaders, engagement isn’t just timely, it’s strategic. Organizations that invest in relationships and policy alignment now are best positioned to lead, not react.

At Pine Lake Public Affairs, we help businesses navigate complex government environments, anticipate legislative movement, and ensure their voice is heard where it matters most.

As we reflect on 250 years of American governance, now is the time to actively participate in shaping what comes next!
