When taking GLP-1 medications like semaglutide or tirzepatide, strength training and proper protein intake are SO important.
These medications help with weight loss, but if you’re not careful, you can also lose muscle along with fat. That’s why resistance/strength training helps preserve muscle, improve metabolism, increase energy, and create a more toned appearance instead of just becoming “smaller.”
Creatine can also be beneficial because it helps support muscle strength, recovery, and muscle preservation during weight loss. Many patients on GLP-1s eat much less, so protecting lean muscle mass matters.
Basic reminders while on a GLP-1:
✔️ Prioritize protein
✔️ Drink plenty of water
✔️ Strength train consistently
✔️ Focus on fat loss, not muscle loss
