25 Years ago our Nation was changed forever.

Today we reflect on the lives lost and the sacrifices made.

Nearly 3,000 lives were taken, including 343 FDNY firefighters, alongside police officers, paramedics, and others who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11th, 2001.

We will continue to honor their memory through service, unity, and care for one another.

We will never forget the events of 9/11/2001

Pulled a 3rd alarm on residential structure in Tieton today. There was no saving the structure, but crews were able to keep it in the "box." Many thanks to all who were toned out and answered the call...TPD, YSO, AMR, Naches Fire, West Valley Fire, Naches Heights Fire, Gleed Fire, East Valley Fire, Training Center Fire, Selah Fire, and Yakima Fire. Hope I mentioned everyone, there was a big gob of folks there. Thank you!

Fireworks? seriously? On a red flag day with strong NW winds? Structures were threatened, could have been a real cluster. Thanks to a very good Highland Fire turnout and our neighbors from Naches Fire Department and West Valley Fire Department, we were able to knock down fire and keep fire away from the four structures threatened and kept fire to a little over 3 acres. No injuries to public or fire fighters. Thank you, NFD & WVFD!

🔥 PDS RED FLAG WARNING🔥

A PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Red Flag Warning is in effect for most of the Yakima Valley and surrounding areas for Saturday 8/1/26.

A PDS Red Flag Warning is not routine, it signals rare, exceptionally dangerous fire weather event requiring immediate public attention and action. The fire community stresses that preventing new ignitions is the most effective way to protect communities and support firefighter safety during this high risk period.

* Monitor emergency alerts from local and state authorities
* Follow all posted land-use restrictions and fire safety regulations
* Stay alert if you live in, work in, or travel through high risk areas

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the fallen and injured firefighters, their families, and the US Wildland Fire Service.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service is devastated to share that three wildland firefighters lost their lives on Saturday, June 27, as part of an interagency response to the Knowles and Gore fires along the Colorado-Utah border. Additionally, two crew members were injured in the line of duty and have been transported to a hospital.

Our immediate focus is on supporting their families, friends, and fellow crewmates during this incredibly difficult time.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service stands united with the USDA Forest Service in grief and in our unwavering support for the loved ones left behind. Their bravery, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Additional details will be shared as they are able to be released.
