Our mission is to preserve land in Rhode Island by subsidizing farmers, paying a lease which keeps them in business and provides them more revenue. We then deliver power to towns and non-profit entities at a fixed, low rate, helping to save taxpayers millions of dollars. Our turbines are completely clean, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions to the point where each turbine is the equivalent of taking 500 cars off the road every year.

The caliber of students in this program is truly impressive, and the URI Energy Fellow we brought on board in 2024 was no exception. Patrick O'Mahony was an asset to our in-house engineering, business development, and biochar teams with his unique combination of engineering and soil science skills. For each of the past 8 years we have had the pleasure of working with one or more students from the program, several of whom have joined our full-time staff. All have provided us with valuable insights and contributed to the company's success.

On December 12th, URI Energy Fellows showcased their hard work and achievements through oral presentations at the annual College of the Environment and Life Sciences Research and Extension Fellowship Symposium. These presentations celebrated the Fellows’ successes and honored the invaluable contributions of our mentor partners.

Cheers to you, 2024 Fellows!

Kudos to the crew at Cucina Rustica in Cranston for preparing a delicious meal and making our annual holiday party special. Thanks to this wonderful team (and those missing from this photo) for making us the leading developer of clean, renewable energy projects in Rhode Island and enabling us to expand into additional technologies that will enhance and preserve the quality of our water, air, and soil in 2025 and beyond!

The City of East Providence announced today that it has signed a 25-year agreement with Green Development, a Cranston-based developer of large-scale solar, wind, and battery projects. The agreement, enabled by the Rhode Island Virtual Net Metering program, makes it possible for qualified entities, such as municipalities, quasi-government agencies, nonprofits, and schools to realize significant savings on their energy bills while contributing to the growth of clean, renewable energy in Rhode Island. The annual savings will be approximately $670,000 per year and $18,500,000 over the life of the agreement.
