It's that time of year again!

private pilates on the megaformer is back at my home studio for fall + winter.

I will be offering sessions Thursdays (beginning tomorrow) I currently have 8am + 11am opening. I'll have afternoons on Thursdays later in September.

I will also have openings Monday afternoons 2pm- 4pm beginning September 9th.

what you can expect is classical Pilates with a contemporary twist. All movements will be slowed down a bit. Good for all levels, athletic to rehab.

sol movement is a series of yang movements to increase heart rate + warm the body + boost the endorphins + wring the body of toxins + rotate + twist + bend the spine in all six directions all whilst immersing your into deep heartfelt music. light hand weights and ankle weights optional. sol movement stems from the pilates method. 30 minutes standing and 30 minutes floor movements.

my teacher describes sol movement is a music driven soulful workout. it is designed to be heart pumping, endorphin producing + to move emotions through. the combination of curated music with emotive movement, sweat, physically intense results is a therapeutic, primal, cathartic, empowering, cleansing, sometimes just challenging movement practice. every joint is in its full range of motion. Requiring an equal amount of eccentric and concentric work, which gives the length and the stretch your body yearns for. sol movement is broken down into 30 minutes standing cardio work and 30 minute floor work. Building on every class to each movement. light hand weights and ankle weights optional.

we will down regulate and connect upon arrival with yin yoga/ nidra practice.
this weekend is for you if you love canyon hikes, perhaps some rejuvenating cold plunges and swims within this gorgeous canyon above. enjoy some pranayama (breathwork) throughout the hiking.

another beautiful lake hike (three lakes and one waterfall) picnic near the lake and Stand Up Paddle board enjoyment.

Yoga Nidra—known as yogic sleep—is a meditation and conscious relaxation practice that is intended to induce total physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. I’ve heard that an hour of yoga nidra can be as restorative as four hours of regular sleep. this practice will take approximately 30 to 35 minutes.

Physical Position: Yoga nidra is generally practiced lying down so you can let go completely. Props, pillows and blankets are commonly used, as well as anything that will help you get into a totally comfortable, restful position.

Attention: A typical yoga nidra practice is highly guided, and takes your attention to specific places through a series of steps (mentioned below). In many ways, the specific instructions make it easier to relax than in meditation.

State of Consciousness: During yoga nidra, you move into the state of conscious deep sleep. You are no longer in the waking state of consciousness, but you also move past the dreaming state of consciousness and into the deep sleep state. However, your mind is actually awake, so it’s often discussed as the state between being asleep and awake. This is why it is said that yoga nidra is so restorative for the body. In both practices, the mind is conscious; in yoga nidra, the body is in a more restful state.
