There's something almost mythic about this one. It doesn't read as decor so much as portraiture.

Navy Christmas keeps growing and the signs serving it are still thin on the ground. This is the wreath somebody photographs and posts, and then you get three orders from the comments. 👇

Tuxedo. Top hat. Gold and black balloons everywhere, confetti in the air, and a countdown clock ticking toward midnight behind him.

This penguin has been planning tonight since March and he is going to be the last one on the dance floor.

Here's the opening nobody takes: everybody stops at Christmas. Nobody makes the wreath that stays up through New Year's. Your customer takes the Christmas one down on the 26th and her door sits empty for a week.

THINGS THAT HAPPENED AT THE DESIGN TABLE THIS WEEKEND:

— Pulled out ribbon I'd been saving for "the right project"
— Used all of it
— Made a bow. Didn't like it. Made it again.
— Found a spool of moss green velvet I forgot I owned
— Put that velvet on three separate pieces
— Looked up at 4pm Saturday and realized I'd skipped lunch
— Kept going anyway

Two days at the easel. Four finished pieces. The longest stretch of actual designing I've done in a while, and I'm not going to pretend I didn't need it.

The tech side of this business keeps me plenty busy. But ribbon and a hot glue gun are the reason the shop exists at all, and standing at that table again reminded me why I started.
