Here's something you don't see very often. Injuries can cause extreme antler deformation. This type of injury effects the frontal growth bone that actually roots the pedicels. It is a complicated process but amazing. Underneath all this sets the main ingredient, called the superficial temporal arteries. This is the starting process for bone growth. In some cases it can be permanent, but on the other it can be just one antler growth cycle. The extent of injury to the vascular layer determines this. And for us as hunters it is hard to tell unless,, well,, we ground check em. THEN, its to late.
