With snow expected this weekend, we would like to remind you of a few ways to assist the Town Highway Department and local law enforcement.

First, please do not park any vehicles on the roadway. Per Town Code Section 212, vehicles parked on the road during snow and ice removal are subject to being towed.

Second, please be advised that placing snow in the roadway is a violation of the Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL). This includes plowing snow from a driveway across the street. We ask that you please remind your private plow contractors of these regulations.

Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River will be closed to the public on Friday, Nov. 14.
Beginning at 8 am on that day The Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation will be conducting a Prescribed Burn on several fields in the park.

A prescribed Burn is a controlled event intended to reduce the potential for wildfires. The Westchester County Department of Emergency Services, Pound Ridge and South Salem Fire Departments will also be on site to monitor the event, conduct wildland fire response training, and provide additional fire containment if needed.

During the event passersby may observe emergency vehicles traveling throughout the area, drones flying above the park, and smoke or flames from within the park.
Smoke conditions are expected to have only minimal impacts outside of the park but individuals with smoke sensitivity or respiratory condition may want to avoid the area and/or stay indoors.
Weather-related factors can impact the ability to conduct the burn and may necessitate rescheduling.

Up-to-date information will be available as follows: in the immediate vicinity of the park motorist can tune to 1610 am, posted on the pages for the Pound Ridge Fire Department, the South Salem Fire Department, the Westchester County Departments of Parks and the Westchester County Departments of Department of Emergency Services.
