Here's a bit of a different view of what goes into getting a new build off the ground!

Foundation footers are one of those parts of a project that most people never see once the home is finished, but they’re an important step in getting everything started right. There’s a lot of detail involved in making sure the layout is correct, the trenches are clean, and the depths are where they need to be before concrete goes in. It’s always satisfying to see a set of plans start taking shape in the dirt. This stage is where the footprint of the home really starts to come to life.

Now it surprises me every time I come around the corner and see it opened up with all the usable space! Most people see a finished driveway. We see the foundation for everything that comes next. That driveway you see has one of the toughest jobs on the property. It has to handle thousands of pounds of equipment, repeated construction traffic, changing weather conditions, and years of everyday use.

That's why we don't look at a driveway as just an entrance. We look at drainage, subgrade preparation, proper grading, culvert placement where needed, turning radius for larger trucks, and how water will move across the property during heavy Tennessee rains. Getting those details right from the beginning helps prevent washouts, soft spots, and costly repairs later.

Have you recently bought or are considering buying property and aren't quite sure where to start? For a lot of new landowners, their first challenge is simply being able to see and access the property. Overgrown property can be intimidating and can hide the lay of the land, making it hard to decide where a house, barn, driveway, and more will fit best.

One of the things we enjoy most about our work is helping clients through these early stages, and that's exactly what this project was about. We forestry mulched this area to open it up so the owners could get a better look at their property and make informed decisions before moving on to the next phase of their build. Once complete, we can help you figure out where everything makes the most sense and move on with the next steps, whether that's additional clearing, driveway install, utilities, grading, or homesite prep.
