May 20th is World Bee Day! LRE’s Big Plain Solar in Madison County, where sheep help manage vegetation and maintain soil health, also supports more than 50 beehives and nearly 3 million bees. By working with veteran‑led partners like Frontline Hives and Wind & Sky Apiaries, we have created pollinator‑friendly habitat that supports local farms and keeps the ecosystem healthy. 🐝

We enjoyed a few days in the field sharing project updates and listening to community leaders.

The LRE team enjoyed attending the Licking County Agriculture Hall of Fame breakfast and catching up with friends. Larry Humphrey, a longtime Johnstown farmer and conservationist, was inducted into Ag Hall of Fame for his commitment to agriculture, the Hartford Fair, and his service to the Soil and Water Conservation District.

As the new owner and future operator of the Harvey Solar project, Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) is excited to join the Licking County community and continue building on the strong foundation of partnership established by Open Road Renewables. Our team is committed to ensuring a smooth, transparent transition. We will honor all existing project commitments, agreements, and requirements, including those previously secured with Open Road Renewables, and all mandates set forth by the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB). We look forward to working closely with local residents and community partners as we move the project forward together.

The Harvey Solar team had a wonderful morning of fellowship at the Licking County Chamber of Commerce 70th Annual Groundhog’s Day breakfast. Keynote speaker and former Ohio State Football star and NFL linebacker Bobby Carpenter provided a motivational speech on leadership and discipline.
