🚨 STUDY: MUTANT MICE ARE SPREADING ACROSS PHILADELPHIA REGION 🚨

A new Rutgers University study has found that many mice in the Philadelphia region are developing genetic mutations that allow them to survive common rodenticides.

Researchers analyzed rodent samples from Philadelphia, New York City, Washington, D.C., and New Jersey.

The findings showed that approximately 70% of the mice tested carried mutations linked to resistance against commonly used poisons.

Researchers say rats are not showing the same genetic mutations, but they are becoming more difficult to control by learning to avoid traps and other extermination methods.

Local pest control professionals say they’ve noticed the change over the last several years, with traditional treatments taking longer to work and demand for pest control services continuing to increase.

Experts say the findings highlight the need to focus more on sanitation, exclusion, and prevention, while researchers work to develop new pest control products.

⚠️ Researchers Say Rodents Are Becoming Harder to Control

“This week, we just had our first positive sample of mosquitoes that tested for West Nile virus. That sample was from a trap collected at Mount Zion Cemetery in Collingdale borough,” said Zachary Babel, Delaware County’s environmental health supervisor.

So far, there have been no reported cases in humans. But Babel said with this discovery, they’ll work to get rid of all possible mosquito breeding grounds in the area.

“If it’s a larger body of water, we will treat it with some mosquito-specific larvicides to try and remove them and make sure they don’t grow up to become adult mosquitoes.”

People are encouraged to wear long, loose clothing and use insect repellents to help keep mosquitoes at bay.
