Meta has quietly changed how ad creative works across Facebook and Instagram - and most advertisers have not adjusted yet.
The old way: separate image and video sizes for each placement. Squares for feed, verticals for Stories and Reels, cropped and uploaded individually.
The new way: one 9:16 vertical creative with a 4:5 safe zone. Meta now adapts that single asset to every placement automatically. The trade-off is that anything near the edges of your ad - logos, text, offers, calls to action - can be cropped out in feed or hidden behind the Reels interface.
At Regis Social Media, we rebuilt our creative process around the new spec and put together a free reference guide for business owners and their teams: the exact safe zone measurements, what each margin protects you from, and a checklist to run before any vertical ad goes live.

If your ads were designed before this change, they are likely losing message visibility on at least one placement. Happy to take a look - send us a message.
