Oculus Light Studio Oculus Light Studio is an architectural lighting design firm committed to the realization of origina We tailor our services to meet the project needs.

Specializing in light and the environment, Oculus Light Studio is an architectural lighting design firm committed to the realization of original lighting concepts that enhance the spaces of which they are a part. With wide ranging experience in a variety of projects, we seek to implement the lighting solutions that best meet the aesthetic goals, the business goals, and the environmental goals of t

he project. Close collaboration with our clients which include owners, real estate developers, architects, interior designers and landscape architects, ensures lighting as a key element of the final built form. Our team includes designers with backgrounds in architecture, engineering, interior design and theatre, opening myriad design possibilities. SCALABLE
From the spotlit table between friends, to the illuminated spandrel of a tower visible miles away, lighting is important at all scales. We enjoy the lighting process for the value it brings to the projects. We tailor our scope to match the project size. ADAPTABLE
Whether the project is next door or in the opposite time zone, whether the scope is only conceptual sketches or until the final punchlist, whether the project style is traditional or futuristic, we pride ourselves in being flexible to the project needs. The techniques, the equipment, the schedule are all adapted to best meet the goals of the project. COLLABORATIVE
Without a surface to reflect it, light is imperceptible. Good lighting is an important element of any project, and it needs to work together with spaces, forms and surfaces. We believe that best solutions are realized when all the aspects are considered together. We collaborate closely with owners, architects, designers, and engineers to make that happen.

Located on the first level of Google’s Gradient Canopy building, the Visitor Experience is comprised of a public café, community event space, and Google Store. As of the end of 2023, Gradient Canopy is the largest new construction project to achieve the Living Building Challenge’s (LBC) Materials Petal Certification. Every luminaire on the project was meticulously selected to adhere to LBC’s material red-list while seamlessly integrating into the building’s architectural design.

At the lobby of Alsace LA, cove lights provide a spa like feel against the wood tones, and decorative pendants provide a soft lantern like glow. In the courtyard, sparkling string lights make for a fun, relaxing communal space for guests to lounge.

Euroluce, now in its 31st edition, was held on April 18th-23rd at Salone del Mobile in Milan. This biennial exhibition’s layout was based around a City of Lights concept inspired by the street plans of traditional Italian towns. Scott perused the exhibit floor, admiring the array of decorative lighting manufacturer booths showcasing their latest offerings.

Grazie again to Targetti USA, Targetti, Performance Lighting Systems, and Kathie Rentner!

It’s always nice to get out of the office environment and spend time together as a team. In February, we had the opportunity to meet at Bitter Root Pottery and throw a bowl on a wheel. Only a couple more weeks until we receive the final product! Thanks to Performance Lighting Systems and OCL Architectural Lighting who treated Oculus to a messy, yet surprisingly relaxing experience.

The IALD Southern California Chapter hosted a pre-Chase the Dark event on Sunday at Pasadena Stained Glass, where we all created stained glass suncatchers – a perfect tool for shadow play! Glass-masters Janel and Elise expertly guided us through the process of cutting, foiling, soldering, and polishing our works of art. As shadow play comes to life around the world during this year’s , we decided to showcase textured and colored glass sparkling to life under a beam of light. A reminder that lighting is not just about the fixture or source, but how it interacts with the environment around itself. Thanks to IALD's SoCal Coordinator, and Oculus designer, Leslie Crapster-Pregont for putting together this enlightening event along with help from our generous sponsors Targetti and Performance Lighting Systems.

Here at Oculus, we don’t just break the bias -- we embrace equity. We recognize that creating an equitable work environment starts with creating an inclusive and supportive team. A team that consists of unique individuals, with unique strengths and challenges, working together to create a successful business.

On International Women’s Day, we recognize that it takes an entire team to advocate for equity – it’s not just a woman’s fight.
