Cases of the bird flu are once again on the rise; this time placing dairy farms across the nation on high alert. According to Dr. Jamie Jonker, NMPF’s chief science officer, more than 1,000 dairy herds have been infected since the virus was first reported in cattle March 2024.

Though the current risk to the general population remains low, humans who are exposed to potentially infected animals are at moderate to high risk of infection. Those who may be exposed, including poultry workers, dairy workers, food processing workers, animal caregivers, veterinarians, zoo, and other wildlife facility workers should take additional steps to reduce exposure and curb the spread. We have exciting news to share! Coming this Fall, we will be opening a new, strategic location in Charleston, SC to service our southeastern customers. This new warehouse is part of Vanguard Safety’s continued growth, and expands our North American footprint to improve operations and service levels. With up to 800,000 square feet of available space, this new warehouse will cut lead times to targeted states by up to 3 days, depending on location.
