Almost home from Bama Bound in Tuscaloosa, so it's back to the real world for me. Before I put it behind me, though, I have some thoughts.
Bama Bound is a huge operation, and it's a well-oiled machine. The overall experience was fantastic. Starting with the signage that's visible from any entry point to campus, we very moment is well marked and thought through.
The University of Alabama established itself as student-centered from the start, and didn't let up for one second.
Relationships are still key.
My husband and I skipped the parent sessions and instead games a coffee with our son's major professor. We didn't want to know about what our son would be doing in school. We wanted to get to know the man who would be mentoring him for the next four years. A quick coffee turned into a four hour conversation that could have gone longer.
Tuscaloosa and the Alabama campus are beautiful. It's also one of the hottest places I think I've ever been. The people are friendly, and the drinks are cold, so it's all worth it.
Good experiences, relationships, and working AC. Those aren't just good things to have in life. They'll take you far in business, too.
See you next time, T-Town.
