Littlehale got rosè’d! A challenging decision to make because I love this as a red wine. However I had to make a decision and many factors led me to choosing rosè as the option I feel best about. I have plenty of Syrah to sell, people want lighter wines and I don’t have whites on the market. May petnat couple dozen cases.
It was an unexpected but exciting turn for this vintage!

I love this wine. Took forever to finish 2ndary fermentation. It’s has bigger tannins but hardly noticeable with a good meal. The fruit is juicy fresh.

July 29 marked the first white wine harvest for frombrentwineco.
We harvested Godello from Guichard Vineyard in Saratoga, a certified organic vineyard planted on an east-facing slope, looking onto Silicon Valley.
I spent eight years helping tend this vineyard. While I’m no longer involved in the farming, I’m grateful to now have the opportunity to work with its fruit.
It’s especially meaningful because I helped train these vines from newly grafted plants, transforming what was once a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard into what it is today.

Pre harvest boating and fishing trip at . Grapes will be rolling in before we know it. Maybe Godello as early as next week. Bottling next week also.

Verasion and season update

Topping off barrels 1x/month. Going to start bi-weekly or sooner topping, going forward. This will help with using less sulfites.
2025 and 2024 Syrah both got dosed with 50ppm sulfites, but I left one barrel of each with 0 sulfite addition (labeled “supernatural”). I like the undosed 2024 way more. The sulfite tightens things up too much. Sulfites have their place. I’m trying to find balance. Happy to be experimenting. Will bottle Supernaturals separately from dosed barrels.

Cabernet Franc, Ascona Vineyard, now on the list in Los Gatos. Had a crazy good pairing with a pork steak. Looking forward to going back and trying it with some brisket and ribs. The Bywater is the first place my wife and I think about when we want to go out for lunch or dinner. Fantastic food and impeccable vibes.
