🚨📢LET’S TALK ABOUT THE 2026 W-4!🗣️
A lot of people think the W-4 is just a form you fill out when you start a new job and forget about. NOPE.
Your 2026 Form W-4 tells your employer how much federal income tax to withhold from your paycheck.
Here’s the breakdown:
📌 Step 1 — Personal Information
You provide your name, address, filing status, and other basic information.
📌 Step 2 — Multiple Jobs or Spouse Works
If you have more than one job or your spouse works, this section helps account for the additional income so you’re not unnecessarily under-withheld.
📌 Step 3 — Dependents & Other Credits
This is where eligible dependents and certain credits can affect the amount of federal tax withheld from your paycheck.
📌 Step 4 — Other Adjustments
This section allows you to account for things like other income, deductions, or additional withholding.
📌 Step 5 — SIGN IT!
A W-4 isn’t complete until you sign and date it. 🤷🏽♀️
And let me make this VERY clear:
Your W-4 is NOT your tax return.
It does not determine your actual tax liability or guarantee a refund.
It determines how much your employer withholds throughout the year. Your actual tax return is calculated later based on your income, filing status, deductions, credits, and other factors.
💚 If you had a major life or financial change in 2026—new job, second job, marriage, divorce, baby, dependent changes, side income, or significant income change—GO REVIEW THAT W-4.
Don’t wait until tax season to discover your withholding wasn’t where it needed to be.
