What Makes A Christian Different from Other Humanitarians In the World Today?

1 Corinthians 15:10

Good morning! It’s the middle of the week and I hope this little devotional finds you well. About to get started on our bus route. It’s usually a quiet start as we pick up the furthest students who are usually too sleepy to cause any excitement. When we start picking up the junior high kids, that’s when things become lively. Fortunately they are only on the bus for about 15 minutes or so. It would be easy to let the insolent retorts and the constant activity get under your skin, but what good would that be for either of us? They are not allowed to be disrespectful or disruptive, don’t get me wrong, but they shouldn’t be so repressed that it ruins their outlook for the day before it starts.

Going home is a whole different thing that I have yet to experience.

Learn to live with a grace-filled heart. Remember what your life like was before you learned of and received Yahweh God’s grace for you through Christ Jesus. Wasn’t that grace always present? Shouldn’t your grace always be present?

Dear friend, I pray you continue to experience Yahweh God’s grace and that you are able to express it freely for those around you who need it. In the blessed Name of Lord Jesus, Amen.

When Pride Doesn’t Matter

Zephaniah 2:10

Christ Jesus experienced all the emotions the rest of humanity experiences daily, both the beneficial and the harmful ones. He was never devoid of emotion when He encountered people in their circumstances. I can just imagine the pride in His disciples He must have experienced when they cast out their first demon in His Name or convinced a sinner to repent and turn back to Yahweh God. I even believe the Heavenly Father expressed pride when He said at the baptism of Christ Jesus, “You are My beloved Son, and I am fully pleased in You.”

Expressing pride in an accomplishment to the betterment of your life and/or the lives of others is not a sin. That is especially true when you acknowledge Yahweh God’s hand guiding you in the right direction. It is okay to be proud of your accomplishments.

Pride becomes a sin when it is all you desire to fulfill. It becomes a vain gullet gorging on meaningless accomplishments that benefit no one. Don’t let let pride become your idol. Don’t let it take the place of Yahweh God and become the worship of self.

Enjoy your accomplishments today, especially those you attribute to the Almighty. I pray blessings throughout your day so that you can end it on a positive note. In the blessed Name of Christ Jesus, Amen.

First John 2:5-6

How is your love for Christ Jesus expressed? Do you show the desire to connect with Yahweh God through devotion to obedience of His Word? The Holy Bible was transcribed by different men inspired by the Holy Spirit. They were divinely inspired to help their fellow men of the importance of following the Heavenly Father and serving Him dutifully. Our love for the Almighty is shown to others by the manner in which we live in Him. Therefore, those who profess they are living in Yahweh God should also desire to emulate Christ Jesus, humbling themselves in the presence of others.

I pray a gentle Monday for you. Hate the transgressions, but love the person. In the blessed Name of Christ Jesus, Amen.

Blessings in the Small Things

Good evening! I hope your week ended on a decent note. I’m back out at Daingerfield State Park watching as a couple of youngsters enjoy their catch of bluegills and sunfish. Although fishing myself is mostly boring because I never have any luck catching them, I do enjoy watching the kids catch theirs.

I remember the awful feeling I had when I accidentally released a 5 pound cat Austin caught because the water bucket he put it in was too full and would have sloshed lake water all over the floorboards of my Tahoe. When I attempted to pour some of the water out, his fish swam right out over the rim of the bucket! When Michael caught his albino cat, he was so proud that he enlisted the aid of a neighborhood friend and created a sanctuary for it. I still miss the kids that I used to shelter, but hopefully I will soon enjoy fostering a couple of new ones. There are too many unfortunate young souls out there who need some one to care for them and mentor them into proper adulthood.

My blessings from Yahweh God continue to impress me, even today. The weather is overcast and temperate with a slight, cool breeze. Even the humidity is pleasant. Count everything that brings you pleasure. Realize what *else* Yahweh Gods has bestowed upon you.

Brogan has a special knack for catching fish, but what impressed me even more was when I told him that not only was he great at catching fish (so far he has 7 in his bucket), he would someday make a great “fisher of men”. He agreed to what I said and admitted he knew what I was referring to.

Please join me in prayer for Brogan and Emily’s continued spiritual growth. Pray that other Christian influencers be placed in their lives to guide them and protect them from the worldly influencers that would lead them astray from the righteous path leading them to Yahweh God’s kingdom. I pray that the end of your week will reflect many of your blessings. Finally, may Yahweh God speak to you in tomorrow’s worship service and start your next week on righteous footing.

In the love of Christ Jesus, Amen.

Do You Like Your Cream of Wheat Lumpy Or Smooth

For years growing up, one of the staples of the morning was a warm bowl of Cream of Wheat (or Malt O’ Meal in some cases) to provide nourishment and a proper start for the day . When my parents were young and dealing with six of us rug rats every morning, meal preparation at the start of the day had to take as little time and money as possible. I never knew about how smooth and creamy the wheat cereal was supposed to be until many years later when I married my second wife who started hers with a wire whisk. I don’t know about you, but lumpy Cream of Wheat is a comfort food for me. I had a bowl this morning and it took me back to that breakfast table more than forty years ago.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

We live in a time when it has become difficult, even illegal for us to openly talk about our faith in Yahweh God or belief in Christ Jesus. Society either represses talk about anything related to the Bible or humiliates individuals who try to stand out for their personal beliefs. The more we need to speak out for Yahweh God, the more repressive the rules get. We can’t even openly pray for ourselves in school without fear of repercussions.

How can we continue to share our faith? How can we make sure our little ones come to know their Heavenly Father loves them and wants to bring them into His kingdom? Nourishing your day spiritually starts with the comfort food for the Christian soul, a daily reading of Holy Scripture and genuine prayer with Yahweh God. When the intake becomes part of your character and core values, you will have the freedom to express your faith in the way you live, act, and react without the fear of repercussions.

Praying for your leadership and care for those you serve. In the love of Christ Jesus, Amen.

Be Encouraging, Not Discouraging

Find words of encouragement to give someone else today. Sometimes this can be difficult to do, especially if it is a worker/colleague who causes you distress from time to time. Do not let your emotional response rule your day. Remember Yahweh God’s love for you despite the numerous reasons you have distressed Him, yet He remains faithful in His blessings to you.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

I pray for your peace and happiness today. May Yahweh God’s divine intervention protect you in a moment of peril and bless you with words of encouragement from another. Remember the grace you received from faith in Christ Jesus and share Him with the world around you.

Love in Christ Jesus, amen.

Why Me, Lord? Why Now?

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Sometimes events occur in your life that may cause you to ask Yahweh God why He is allowing the calamity to befall you. There may be times that multiple events come at you in rapid succession and completely out of your control. Some who are not strong in faith may even question if He really loved them.

Know this! Yahweh God has created each of us out of love. In His divine perfection, though, sin, into which we have been born into, cannot exist in His kingdom. It is because of sin and the temptation to entertain it that causes the trials to appear. How we respond, whether we draw closer to Yahweh God for His help to get through them; or allow the evil one to drive us further away from the Heavenly Father when we despair, the choice is ours to make. Consider Job and all that he lost - family, home, wealth, and health - not by Yahweh God’s hands. The only fault he had was in cursing the day he was born, not placing blame upon the Almighty.

I pray for you today to find strength in knowing that Yahweh God has a purpose for you. He has not ordained that you suffer needlessly because He does love you unconditionally. The trials that you are facing now are honing you to enjoy a deeper relationship with Him. What you endure now is preparing you for that promising reward awaiting you. I pray you do not give up hope. A better day is coming.

GET COUNTED!

It is so important that each eligible citizen - that is every man, woman, and child - who lives in the United States needs to be counted in the 2020 Census. Right now thousands of Census takers are out in the field, working in the heat, and going to the doors of those Americans who for some reason have not completed their census questionnaire. This may be the most significant census in recent history. Every person and every community needs as accurate an accounting of each individual for proper representation. Friends, please don’t close doors in their faces. Even when they show up late in the evening on Sunday. Time is running short before the coming election, one that is sure to be contentious for all parties involved. One missed count could result in the wrong number of representatives for your community and state. Taking part in the census is your patriotic duty as well as your duty to the community you live in.

If you truly care, then duly share.

Peace Officers Memorial Day - May 15, 2020

Let’s take a moment of gratitude to honor our nations peace officers who serve, or have served American communities through turmoil and peace, especially those who have given their lives to protect the lives of others they did not even know.

Okay folks, quick and valuable lesson with a simple fix, but you are going to have to do a little work. So I got a little bit frustrated with a “friend” request from a popular giant social media platform that just about everybody in the world uses. As you can guess, this was a hacked identity account. The scammers didn’t hack the account, they just took the profile picture and name of this trusted friend and created a new account with a personalized link. Then they sent me a friend request through the messaging app that also happens to be part of this social media giant.

Now I know friends constantly lose phones or forget passwords and have to change accounts, so I’m not railing against this platform. It is a great place to connect with friends and family while in this current situation we are forced to endure. Criminals are everywhere, so you cannot expect to free of their insidious plots to steal your money.

But you can take actions that help you and your friends and other acquaintances. When you get a new friend request, especially through that messaging app, before you even respond, click on the profile of the sender. You might say, “I’ve known this person my whole life! Why should I doubt the authenticity of this personal request from a dear friend?” That is exactly the response the hacker wants from you. They have probably already scanned through your own profile to see who you have the most conversations with in the past.

Don’t go back to your friend’s profile that’s been there for years. Go to the profile from the app. You may find their most recent profile picture, or you may find a blank. You are not looking for that. You are looking for something else. Look for the link to the page. It will say something like “personalized page link”. It will have something like: “[Your Friend’s Name]www.[media].com/[hacker’s personal page identifier]. Copy that link down somewhere for reporting to your friends and to the giant, then return to the app.

If you discover that it really is your friend, then you may have nothing else to worry about for now. However, if you now know that this is a scammer who is forwarding wonderful new about a grant they just received and want to forward you to that program, then ask them a personal question that only you and your friend would know, but don’t share with them whether they are right or wrong in the answer. Now you have to report the hacker to the app and file a report, which is basically just a few clicks of the mouse or touching the screen about five times. Be sure to block the sender as well.

Blessings in the love of Christ.
