This was the year of AI adoption. What are you turning it into?

Twelve months ago, if you had asked me about AI, I would have laced up my gloves and headed straight for the center of the ring. In a year where marketers, leaders, and students felt the ground shift beneath them, many embraced the change with open arms.

There is something about writing a guest blog post that I thoroughly enjoy...

If you're in the logistics space or an OEM serving hyperscalers, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the piece.

We are thrilled to welcome our newest thought leader: Kayla Elliot! 👏

Kayla, a logistics expert with ell Consulting, is now contributing her incredible insights to the Hub.

In her first article, she challenges the norm: why your Service Supply Chain must transform into a strategic powerhouse to win the Hyperscale race (think 2-hour delivery!).

Don't bury with WIIFM!

🤔 What's WIIFM?

So glad you asked. I am not even sure it's a real acronym, but in my world, it stands for "What's in it for me?"

👆 That's what your potential customers care about.

They're looking at your product or solution because they have a problem or need that requires a solution. If your marketing materials (think social posts, website copy, blogs, one-pagers, etc.) are all filled with buzzwords and fluff, you will lose them.

Start with the benefit-filled outcomes they will see and/or experience. More time to do x, y, or z, reduced costs, less waste, whatever that value prop is -- bring it to life in a real-world way.

"But you haven't been in a leadership position for three years."

That 👆 is feedback I recently received when I submitted a proposal for a freelance position.

They aren't wrong. I left my VP position in 2021 to start my own business. I don't have employees directly reporting to me daily. But here's what I do have...

Clients that rely on me, a one-woman show, to achieve their entire marketing strategy to promote their livelihood.

Clients who understand my strengths and request deliverables that achieve their brand messaging, quickly and efficiently.

Clients who choose me, over others, because they know my reputation, my communication skills, and they know my abilities.

Sometimes your job title means nothing. Sometimes it means everything. But it doesn't define your skills, qualifications, or strengths.

The reality is, you're going to spend the money anyway, so why not support local?

Elevating any element of your business requires data-driven decisions. Oftentimes these metrics are available, but few invest the time to understand what, or how X is driving Y.

Take the time - and reveal the story your data is trying to tell you.

Word of mouth is everything, and the harsh reality is negative experiences are talked about far more than positive ones.

Here's a few tips to keep a positive user experience:
1) Always follow up - Before the deal is done, and after to ensure the customer is happy with the end result.
2) Be on time - Their time is just as important as yours. Show them you respect that.
3) Don't overpromise and under-deliver - Alternatively, give yourself a bit of wiggle room on deadlines so you can achieve the end result within the projected timeline.
4) After the sale, encourage testimonials and reviews on social media pages, Google Business Review pages, etc. Even if they're happy with the work, they likely won't go out of their way to share this experience unless you request it or incentivize them.

Two years of successful, self-employment makes a gal kinda feel like Wonder Woman. But, I'm not crazy. I know I could not have climbed to where I am without the trust of each and every one of my clients, the confidence of each referral source, and the support from my friends and family.

So, I want to send a big thanks to every single one of you!

Cheers to two!

The importance of a story is imperative in today's marketing world. Buzzwords are all over the place, new tools are constantly being developed, and there is a sh*t-ton of content everywhere. So how do you stick out in the already crowded space?

Create your brand story.

Tell your audience about you. Why did you choose to open or take over this business? Tell them your goals, your differentiators, and your passion. Tell them about these things in 20 different ways.

Video, images, text, short digestible pieces of content, and long form. Then, review the data. What generated the most engagement? What leads to the most clicks? Which video was viewed the longest? Then use this information to create even more content in the format that your audience prefers.

Good stories stay with people. Never stop telling yours.
