Purpose: The purpose of this program is to support innovative solutions, encourage community engagement, and advance systemic change. This program will provide small awards to non-profit organizations serving youth, young adults, or the aging population.
This program focuses on driving meaningful change through the following initiatives designed to address the most pressing needs of communities:
Operating expenses: The purpose of this initiative is to provide financial support for organizations' operating expenses whose work aligns with the funding agency's mission and values. This initiative helps organizations work more effectively by reducing costs such as staff salaries, administrative expenses, facility upkeep, and essential program infrastructure. This initiative will focus on:
o Supporting organizational sustainability
o Encouraging financial responsibility
o Strengthening accountability and impact
Capital and equipment: The purpose of this initiative is to provide financial support for the acquisition, maintenance, or upgrading of capital assets and equipment essential to the operation and growth of organizations. This initiative helps organizations improve their physical infrastructure, strengthen operations, and invest in the tools they need to achieve their mission and deliver high-quality services. This initiative will focus on:
o Enhancing operational efficiency
o Building organizational capacity
o Creating long-term sustainability
o Fostering innovation and quality
o Strengthening accountability and impact
Special projects: The purpose of this initiative is to provide financial support for projects that are not classified as typical operating or capital projects. This initiative will focus on:
o Supporting organizational sustainability
o Encouraging financial responsibility
o Strengthening accountability and impact
This program focuses on the following key program areas that aim to create lasting, positive change in communities:
o Arts and culture: funding will support projects that provide access to the arts, promote cultural heritage, and encourage creative innovation
o Civic and public affairs: funding will support projects that advocate policy change, encourage community involvement, and enhance governmental transparency
o Education: funding will support projects that promote academic achievement, encourage lifelong learning, and prepare individuals for success in a rapidly changing world
o Health: funding will support projects that advance health care access, promote prevention and wellness, and tackle the root causes of health inequities
o Human services: funding will support organizations that provide critical services such as housing, food security, mental health support, and workforce development
Priority will be given to projects that promote social justice, equity, and inclusion, with a particular focus on addressing systemic challenges and supporting underserved populations.
Funding will be provided nationwide; however, the funding agency aims to allocate at least one-third of its resources to organizations serving West Texans.
