I know how difficult that choice can be. As an attorney defending Christians in communist Romania, I faced persecution, violence, and a man sent to kill me. My journey taught me how deeply faith and forgiveness can change a life.
Forgiveness does not erase what happened, excuse wrongdoing, or require you to abandon healthy boundaries. It begins with a courageous choice—and often requires making that choice again.
In this episode, I share seven practical steps to help you:

PEACEMAKER OR PEACEKEEPER?
What is the difference between a peacekeeper and a peacemaker?
It sounds like a simple question—but when conflict becomes personal, the answer can challenge us deeply.
A peacekeeper may seek to avoid conflict, maintain the appearance of harmony, or keep everyone comfortable.
A peacemaker is willing to step into difficult places, confront what is broken, pursue truth, extend forgiveness, and work toward genuine reconciliation.
And sometimes, peacemaking is uncomfortable.
In this episode of Courageous Leadership with VIRGINIA PRODAN, we explore what it really means to choose peace—not simply to keep the peace.
That question connects deeply with the story behind my memoir, Saving My Assassin.
My story is about far more than legal resistance to a violent regime. It is also about what happens when we choose courage, forgiveness, faith, and a radically different response to those who seek to harm us.
So I want to ask you a personal question:
Think about a conflict in your life right now.
Maybe it is in your family.Maybe it is at work.Maybe it is within your community.Maybe it is a relationship that has become difficult.
Ask yourself:
Am I simply keeping the peace—or am I courageously making peace?
Because sometimes keeping the peace means remaining silent.
But peacemaking may require us to speak the truth, choose courage, extend grace, and take the first step toward reconciliation.
That is the heart of Courageous Leadership.
