Indigenous Peoples’ Day is also an opportunity to listen, learn, and better understand the stories and perspectives that have too often been overlooked.

One thing we keep noticing:

A lot of technology conversations start with, “What tool should we use?”

But the harder questions usually come first.

- How should this process actually work?
- Who owns what?
- Where should the handoffs happen?
- What information really matters?
- What are we doing today simply because we’ve always done it that way?

Software can support those decisions.

It usually can’t make them for you.

Sometimes the most productive technology conversation happens before anyone talks about technology at all.

- Did anything get easier this week?
- One less step?
- One less spreadsheet?
- One process finally documented?
- One piece of technology actually doing what it was supposed to do?

Big transformation gets a lot of attention.

But the little improvements people notice every single day deserve some credit too.

Sometimes business process discovery is basically just being a professionally acceptable toddler.

- Why?

- But why?

- Okay, and why does that happen?

- What if we didn’t do it?

- Does anyone know why we started doing it this way in the first place?

Eventually you get to the good stuff.

Because sometimes a process exists for a very good reason.

And sometimes it exists because someone made a decision seven years ago and nobody has questioned it since. 🤐

There really is software for everything. The trick is knowing when you actually need it.

Before adding another tool, it’s worth asking whether the problem is really the
technology or whether the process itself needs attention first.

Sometimes the answer is new software.
Sometimes it’s better integration.
Sometimes it’s using what you already own more effectively.
And sometimes it’s simply fixing the process.

The goal isn’t more technology.

It’s the right technology supporting the right way of working.

One of the best things we can hear after a project?

“We’ve got it from here.”

Good consulting isn’t about keeping all the knowledge to ourselves.

It’s about building something that works, explaining the why behind it, and making sure the people who will live with it every day feel confident owning it.

Of course, we love when clients keep us around. We just want it to be because they want us there, not because they’re afraid to touch anything without us. 😉

The hard part comes afterward:

Which ones actually make sense for your business?

New technology is exciting, but not every new capability needs to become a new project.

The best next step is usually to separate what could solve a real problem today from what belongs on the “let’s keep an eye on this” list.

That’s where the fun starts.

Dreamforce week is here. ☁️

That means a lot of new Salesforce announcements, a lot of AI conversation, and probably a few moments of:

“Okay, but what does this actually mean for our business?”

That’s the question we care about most.

New technology is exciting. The real opportunity is figuring out where it genuinely makes work easier, solves a real problem, or creates something better for the people using it.

We’ll be keeping an eye on everything coming out of Dreamforce this week.

Not every improvement has to be a huge transformation.

Sometimes the biggest difference comes from fixing the one thing everyone is tired of dealing with.

The report that takes forever.
The process everyone does differently.
The workaround that was supposed to be temporary.
The extra step nobody can explain.

Small fixes can make everyday work noticeably better.
