Hot off the lathe lol.

This was made with a piece of stabilized Redwood Burl and it has so much figuring in it. It looks GREAT.

I made it with a gold Commander rollerball kit.

Time lapse video of the entire process except the assembly.

Turning, sanding, applying CA finish, wet sanding to gloss shine, and polishing with fine scratch remover. 💜

Yep, that purple dust is everywhere now lol.

Staying busy and working on a few new pens for the website. I got this wood a few days ago the the knife show over in Fort Worth. I was told that it’s dyed sycamore. To dye the wood, it’s put into a pressure chamber and all the air is pulled out, and then when the pressure is realeased, the liquid dye is pulled into the wood as air is going back in. Kind of a slow process but it works great. And I think this one came out BEAUTIFUL. 💜

It’s headed to the website for $70. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll get ya a 20% family and friends discount code to use. 👍🏼

Spalted Maple - Commander Rollerball pen.

I’m calling this one mine until someone manages to talk me out of it. I’ve got more of this wood and can make another if interested. I can make you your very own for $70. Let me know.

Spalted Maple is technically not a specific species of Maple, but rather a type of Maple that has been allowed to begin initial stages of decay. The partial decay, called spalting, gives the wood dark contrasting lines and streaks where fungus has begun to attack the wood. It’s kinda pricy per pen blank but it sure does look cool.

Getting more of the Mickey Mantle pens finished up for next weekends show in Allen Texas at the Dallas Card Show with my buddies David and Danny Mantle, two of Micks sons. I’ve gotta order more of this wood and more kits soon. The wood used to be stadium seats at Yankee Stadium where Mick played his entire legendary career. These rollerballs sell at the shows for $145 each. If you’re interested in one after next weekend, reach out to me. We can get you a 25% discount but not until after the show. Gotta keep up our inventory for then.

Tomorrow I will be starting on another dozen of the mini bat pens that I made with Northern White Ash, the same used for Louisville Slugger bats. Those are just $30 each.

This is a batch of custom pens I made for Terry Sullivan. Terry is the owner of Sullivan BBQ over in Lewisville Texas.

The pens were made using a log from his place that he uses in his smoker for all the amazing food he makes. The wood is Post Oak and is the best used for smoking meat.

If you love great BBQ, go check them out. In my opinion, it’s the best in Texas.

This is a Kenworth fordite bolt action rifle pen I made today that’s heading to the website for just $55.

Fordite is dried paint that comes from the paint booths at the manufacturer when vehicles are painted. The paint layers on the racks over time in the various colors used. These pieces were set in acrylic to make them big enough to make a pen with.

I bought the fordite last year when I made a Kenworth pen for my Dad. This is the last piece of the Kenworth fordite I have left from that purchase.

It’s a really great looking true one of a kind pen.
