The average person consumes 6+ hours of content per day. That’s around 40% of the time we spend awake.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Meaning, we’re spending almost half of our time each day consuming a wide range of information / media / opinions / content. That’s a LOT for our brain to manage (and not to mention, a huge knock to our nervous systems).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But what about the effects it has on our business? Subconsciously, our amount of daily consumption is teaching us that we need more. More posts. Emails. Likes. Views. Followers. Shares. Etc.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That if we aren’t pumping out the same amount of content we’re consuming, then we’re failing. Leaving us with a super unrealistic and unsustainable goal of consuming and creating 24/7.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣ This waters down your brand, messaging and marketing. Creating copy-paste content that feels heavy and/or like the rest. It’s generic, energetically draining and is failing to capture the unique essence of your brand.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣ You’ll likely gain followers, but that doesn’t mean you’ll gain clients / customers. If you aren’t connected to YOUR aligned audience, you’re going to miss out on the opportunity to build a loyal community of readers and buyers.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3️⃣ Most importantly, it’s going to make you more vulnerable to comparison, insecurity and doubt. Which is the #1 killer of success. When we aren’t connected to ourselves, it’s much harder to authentically connect with our business.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If we’re aware of this, we can try our best to prioritize a healthy relationship with consumption and creation (because they ARE important and beautiful and needed.)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve included a couple of important reframes in the slides above that can help us all get back to alignment ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You’re doing great. You’re enough. You matter.
