Who is ready for fall weather?! I remember buying this cropped field jacket in early September a few years ago when it was horribly hot. I plan to wear it more this fall as I have not used it as much as I had anticipated.

Take inventory of your fall clothing when you make the closet switch, and devise a plan to wear under utilized pieces more. Or simply donate them if you don’t think you will wear them.

It’s not too soon to start your wish list for fall. One item I didn’t own was a hoodie. I have a black cashmere hoodie for travel but not one like shown here.

American Giant to the rescue. They make sweats and cotton pieces like you remember from our youth. Naturally, I got the red.

A fun date night with my fella. I wore my “painting” clothing, jeans by Jennifer Monet Cowley of Dallas. The evening was at House of Blues hosted by Painting with a View (I found it on EventBrite).

I purposely purchased these carpenter jeans large and did some “waist in,” but not fitted. I’ve been baffled how to style them, frankly. My rule is to wear something more tailored (or slim) on the other half, but this wasn’t working. Finally, I tried a white button down, and that was the magic pill.

The shirt is tucked to show my silhouette, but it’s also loose, balancing the volume of the jeans. Sometimes we have to work harder with some pieces, but the result is worth it.
