Apartment floor plans nationwide are expanding after a decade of shrinkage. This growth is not evenly distributed, though. Southern markets, where land is less constrained, now dominate the leaderboard for apartment size.

US apartment sizes have grown to an average of 910 SF in 2025, with Southern cities like Tallahassee offering the most space for renters.
