In my last article, I shared why beautiful home designs can fail without strong project management.

That conversation naturally led to a bigger question:

What role should architects and designers play in leading a project?

Architecture today requires more than creativity. It requires leadership — guiding projects, coordinating teams, navigating complexity, and ensuring that a vision becomes a successful build.

During Women’s History Month, I’ve also been reflecting on the growth it takes to step into leadership roles in industries like architecture and construction.

Over the years, I’ve learned that the most successful projects happen when designers embrace both sides of the profession — creative vision and strategic leadership.

In this article, I share a few thoughts on why the designer must also lead the process.

In my last article, I shared why beautiful home designs can fail without strong project management. The response reinforced something I’ve seen throughout my career in residential design and construction: Architecture requires more than creativity.

Today I officially graduated from the first annual Construction Cohort, hosted by Construction Success Academy in partnership with Dallas College.

This program didn’t just teach us about construction — it built our confidence, skills, and future from the ground up. 🧱

Proud to be part of the first class paving the way for more women and new talent in the construction industry. This is just the beginning. 💪
