It’s here!

Giving Tuesday is on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. We’re asking for your help this holiday season by making a gift to Impactful Touch to support our Young Civic Empowerment Program, between today and December 4, 2021! Because of your support, we are currently helping to develop and empower 16 talented young organizers and policy makers who will work to make sustainable changes in their communities.

At Impactful Touch, we believe in investing into leaders and their ideas by creating a space where true collaboration and learning can take place. We do this through our philanthropic arm of our programs.

The Young Civic Empowerment Program is one of several initiatives designed to promote positive discourse and prepare emerging leaders for lifelong work in advancing equity and justice through policy change and political campaigns.

We identify and educate young leaders between ages of 21 and 29 that align with our mission and seek to be servant leaders of their communities. Our cohort teaches participants how to effectively organize, analyze data, learn and implement strategy, and successfully collaboarte to move their passion to policy change. Each participant is required to register a minimum of 25 voters, obtain 50 community survey completions, and work as a group to lead an educational or service event centered around one of the topics discussed in the cohort. Because of the generosity of supporters like you, we are able to offer this program free of charge and provide a stipend upon completion.

The goal is to prepare our cohort members with the knowledge to become precinct chairs, board & commissions members, and/or election day judges within a year of completing the program.

The next cohort starts 7/9/2022 and applications open 5/1/2022.

is coming soon, and we hope you'll consider making a donation to support our program.

The Fight Continues! The 2020 Census was Phase 1, we are on to Phase 2; Redistricting!

From June 2019 until October 2020 our CEO, Sean Reed led Census 2020 outreach strategy and ex*****on through out North Texas as an appointee to the City of Dallas’s Complete Count Commitee, Chair of City of Dallas’s African American Census Consortium, and as the Civic Engagement Chair & Equity Officer for the Dallas - Fort Worth Urban League Young Professionals.

Sean and his team worked closely with the U.S, Census Bureau, City of Dallas Census Coordinator and CCC appointees, UNT Dallas School of Law, JBJ staff, ABI staff, elected officials, city departments, nonprofits, and key stakeholders to ensure as close to a complete count as possible given the many barriers.

Did you know that, “how districts are drawn affects every political issue, from the economy to healthcare to public education”. If politicians are elected from districts that don’t reflect the population, you end up with situations where politicians support policies that the vast majority of people oppose, or they won’t support policies that the vast majority of people support.

We need volunteers to make calls to our Texas Legislatures and sign up to testify. Contact us if you’re interested.

Huge S/O to Derrick Walker with Social Ink for helping to bring this project to life.

The State of Texas’s Governor, Greg Abbott on Tuesday announced a third special legislative session that will begin on September 20th and include redistricting, restrictions on transgender student athletes and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"The Texas Legislature now has the opportunity to redraw legislative and congressional districts in accordance with the new census numbers," Abbott said in a statement. " However, we should not allow them to do with out making public statements on the record. The lines that they draw will be in place for the next 10 years. Let’s be sure to let our voice be heard as they do this important task. We must ensure that politicians don’t manipulate maps for personal or political gain. So that we don’t reduce our voices being heard on all of these policies that affect us. Purposefully breaking up communities takes away the community’s ability to come together and advocate for important issues.

The Census Bureau will release the same data in easier-to-use formats by September 30, 2021.

While the states are responsible for legislative redistricting, the Census Bureau provides the most accurate population counts possible for the geographic areas the states need.
