Core Duties of a Remote Nurse
Patient Assessment & Triage
Conduct virtual assessments via phone/video, gathering medical history and vital signs, determining urgency and next steps.
Health Education & Counseling
Explain medical conditions, medications, care plans, lifestyle changes clearly and calmly over digital platforms.
Remote Patient Monitoring
Track and interpret data transmitted by patients (e.g., blood pressure, glucose). Follow up when abnormal values are received.
Documentation & EMR/EHR Management
Accurately log virtual encounters, symptoms, treatment plans, and follow-ups in electronic records.
Care Coordination & Referrals
Collaborate with physicians, specialists, insurance teams; make referrals and navigate care processes.
Medication Management
Oversee medication adherence remotely, provide instructions, and monitor side effects.
Escalation of Care
Identify emergencies during virtual sessions and escalate to physicians or dispatch emergency services as needed.
Emotional Support & Counseling
Offer support to patients and families during stressful health situations to ensure emotional wellbeing.
HIPAA Compliance & Confidentiality
Maintain patient privacy and adhere to legal and ethical telehealth standards
