Rembrandt etching before and after treatment. The image is of Abraham and Isaac. This beautiful little piece was removed from an old backing and repeatedly washed overall, then stabilized and flattened. It was a joy to have had this in the studio!

It is owned and run by Tish Brewer, a professional art conservator, who works closely with her husband, David. Together, they care for all kinds of pa...

Before and after of a Paul Signac watercolor. It had water damage which resulted in a significant tideline. It was dry mounted to a poor quality backing, and the process of backing removal was done very carefully inch by inch, as was working over suction to reduce/remove the tideline. The piece is much improved!

This is a piece that was in the studio a few years back. A lovely little Renoir etching that came to us in pretty bad shape. It was rescued from a house fire caused by a lightning strike. It was washed a lot, the tears mended, and then flattened.

This is a color lithograph by Harry Gottlieb, entitled 'Bootleg Coal Miners'. It is part of Crystal Bridges Museum's collection. There were quite a few issues to address. Tape removal, surface cleaning, removal of previous overpainting and repair, overall washing, overall lining, and then finally inpainting to integrate tears and other damage. A very interesting WPA project print.

A wonderful old photograph (1926) of the Concilio Pro Mexicano in Little Mexico Dallas. It arrived rolled with many tears, some missing parts, and scotch tape on it. After treatment it is much happier now. Click on the pics to see the full image. The photograph was quite wide.
